Dana Point Coastal Arts - Your gateway to the art and artists of Dana Point

The treasured Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol, will be enlivened with a unique nautical theme when it’s performed at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point Harbor Dec. 13, 14 & 15.

Scrooge will become a greedy ship’s captain and trader in this production of “A Dana Point Christmas Carol.” The colorful history of Dana Point’s fur trading past will be woven into the story’s familiar and heart warming themes. The original script is written by Tom Swimm, former Art Splash winner, talented local playwright, artist and actor. The production will be directed by Michael Buss, a local Orange County director who has worked in the county’s theaters.

This is another family friendly production offered by the Dana Point Theater Company, which premiered its first show last July with its successful run of Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors in Heritage Park.

“We expect ‘A Dana Point Christmas Carol’ to become cherished community tradition, just as our Shakespeare in the Park is now a summer cultural highlight for Dana Point and Orange County,” said Producer Alicia Erlinger. “Our theater troupe is committed to creating high quality productions that help our audiences enjoy classic theater with a fresh and innovative twist.”

A Dana Point Christmas Carol will have three performances at the Samueli Lecture Hall in Dana Point’s Ocean Institute, each at 7 p.m.. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children under 12.
